Karador, Ghost Chieftain EDH Commander Deck

This Karador, Ghost Chieftain EDH deck build is very centered around creatures and graveyard play. I know they say “don’t put all of your eggs into one basket” with graveyard play but there are many dredge, mill, and discard cards to keep your graveyard consistently big. This Karador deck build was designed around just using cards and combos that play very well with each other.

This deck uses many sac outlets like Sadistic Hypnotist to take advantage of abilities like Reveillark’s, False Prophet, and Yosei, the Morning Star. You can thing bring many of these creatures back with cards like Loyal Retainers, Sheoldred, Whispering One, and of course Karador.

There are several combinations in this deck like Woodfall Primus, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, and Sadistic Hypnotist. As well as infinite combos with Reveillark, Karmic Guide, and Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter to make a really big creature.

Overall this is a really fun deck to play and has become a favorite for me. Since the deck is very heavy creature oriented its very easy to play from the graveyard. Another great part about having the Karador EDH deck creature oriented is being able to use cards like Primal Surge and being able to play a fifth of your deck in one turn.

I find that this deck works better 1 vs 1 then multiplayer but it is still very fun to play!

I think your deck needs life from the loam. Card advantage like that is amazing in a deck like yours. If budget isn’t an issue(or proxies are okay) Bazaar of Baghdad is amazing in Karador.

I had life from the loam in the deck for a while but I took it out because I did not use it much and it was not really adding to the deck the way some of the other cards do. Bazaar of Baghdad is good but like you said a little out of my price range!

I think you could trim some fat. I run Karador myself and I would never put in the likes of necrotic sliver, Sisters of stone death, bloodghast (you can bring it back but… that’s it), mesmeric orb, or puppeteer clique. Instead I’d put in Ashen rider, craterhoof behemoth, debtor’s knell, Reya Dawnbringer, and/or angel of serenity.

Other than that, I really like the list!

Thanks I actually removed a few of those already. I just haven’t gotten around to updating the list. Although I like mesmeric orb it does a great job of keeping cards in my graveyard and messes up my opponents play strategy a little too. Updating now.

Hi, first time poster but long time lurker here. Thought I’d give my 2 cents on my favorite general.
I built my Karador as a value/toolbox deck. I love to flash in a restoration angel to get more value off ETB critters or a Elesh-norn via winding canyons to wipe Avenger of Zendikar tokens or recasting all my utility creatures from the yard and getting a lot of value via Karametra, God of Harvests. Jarad’s orders grabs loyal retainer & vorinclex/iona/elesh-norn/kokusho/yosei.

Perhaps my favorite is that you can birthing pod Karador into Iona.

I enjoy using a self mill deck, probably one of my favorite decks to run. I like running Kessig Cagebreakers in my BUG deck, and Ghoultree as well.
